A guided Abundant Thought resource for entering Wallace D. Wattles' teaching on the Principle of Power and practicing it in ordinary life.

What this is

A guided way into the source text.

The Science of Being Great is a compact, forceful New Thought classic about the divine Principle of Power within every person. It is not a personality brand, status manual, or domination strategy. It is a study in becoming inwardly aligned, outwardly useful, and spiritually awake.

Abundant Thought does not replace Wattles. It asks you to begin with the source, listen carefully, study honestly, practice concretely, and reflect deeply.

Why Wattles?

The text is old. The question is alive.

Wattles writes with the conviction that greatness is not reserved for a few. It is an inner capacity awakened through viewpoint, consecration, identification, idealization, thought, and action.

Power

What principle governs your life?

The work begins by recognizing the Principle of Power within. The person is not merely an effect of circumstance, heredity, or public opinion.

Viewpoint

How are you seeing the world?

Wattles insists that greatness requires a completed view: the world, other people, and the self are advancing, not ruined.

Service

What does greatness express?

True greatness does not seek to rule, impress, or be served. It expresses more life through useful, dignified, loving action.

The Method

How this study works.

Every part follows the same rhythm so the work stays grounded and repeatable.

Listen

Begin with the original chapter audio.

Read

Return to the text and mark what stands out.

Think

Develop original thought instead of passive consumption.

Practice

Apply one principle through a concrete action or discipline.

Reflect

Use the Companion Journal to record what opened, resisted, and changed.

How to Study

Do not confuse inspiration with realization.

The point is not to admire the idea of greatness. The point is to let the material change the way you think, choose, speak, serve, work, and act.

Use this simple study pattern.

  • Begin with the assigned chapter before reading commentary or notes.
  • Mark one passage that enlarges you and one passage that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Write one sentence in your own words: "I think Wattles is saying..."
  • Name the old self-concept the chapter asks you to release.
  • Choose one ordinary action and do it in a great way before moving on.
A note on greatness

Greatness is not performance.

In this study, greatness is not fame, domination, moral superiority, or self-display. It is the expression of divine power through a person who has become clear enough to serve life without fear, hurry, resentment, vanity, or the need to control.

The work is demanding because it asks for a new viewpoint and a new habit of thought. It begins inwardly, then proves itself in ordinary action.
