For Wattles, gratitude is not a pleasant add-on. It is the practice that keeps the mind in relationship with the source of increase.
Dissatisfaction fixes attention on lack. Gratitude fixes attention on the good that is already moving, and that shift changes what the mind can perceive, receive, and act upon.
This does not mean pretending hardship is not real. It means refusing to let hardship become the ruling image in your consciousness.
Name three specific gratitudes and feel each one for at least twenty seconds.
Do not rush. Let gratitude become bodily before you move into the day.
Prompt: What am I genuinely grateful for right now, and how does gratitude change the quality of my attention?
Write honestly. Include what opened, what resisted, and what still feels unfinished.
