Do not rush past what the chapter is doing in you.

Study means slowing down, returning to the source, and noticing where the text opens, challenges, or confuses you.

How to study this lesson

  • Mark one passage that resonates with you.
  • Mark one passage that feels unclear, uncomfortable, or hard to accept.
  • Re-read the unclear paragraph, then read the paragraph before it and the paragraph after it.
  • Write one sentence in your own words: “I think Wattles is saying…”

Clear vision, steady will

Thinking in the Certain Way is not vague positivity. It is the formation of a clear, definite mental picture held with purpose and faith.

Wattles is careful about the will: you are not to use willpower to force people or circumstances. You use will on yourself — to direct attention, guard thought, and remain faithful to the vision.

The discipline here is to stop feeding every fear, trend, complaint, and appearance that weakens the image you are trying to live into.

Practice

Apply the principle.

Write or revise your vision in present tense with concrete detail.

Choose one sentence from that vision and carry it through the day as your mental compass.

Reflect

Use the Companion Journal.

Prompt: What vision am I willing to hold with faith, clarity, and consistency?

Write honestly. Include what opened, what resisted, and what still feels unfinished.
